Monsoon: Orange Alert Issued For Pune District, Heavy Rains Predicted In Ghat Areas

Pune, 5th July 2022: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to heavy rains in the Ghat areas of the Pune district from today (July 5) to July 9.

K S Hosalikar, Head-IMD Pune, tweeted, “Possibilities of heavy to very heavy rains with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is on cards for Konkan, Goa and adjoining central Maharashtra. Satara, Pune, Nashik Ghat areas have similar rain possible.”

The district administration has been asked to be prepared to deal with any calamity.

Meanwhile, a red alert has been issued for Konkan areas including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg as well as Kolhapur and Satara districts.

Following the warning issued by IMD, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the state administration officials to take precautions and ensure there is no loss of life or property.

Two teams of NDRF from the Pune-based battalion are also deployed in Kolhapur.
