Pune: Boy Kidnapped For Rs 20 Lakh Ransom In Hinjawadi, Cops Rescue Him In 6 Hours

Hinjawadi, 5th July 2022: A 15-year-old boy who was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh was rescued by Pimpri Chinchwad police within six hours. The incident took place on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

Police have identified the arrested persons as Dnyaneshwar Kisan Chavan (23), Lakhan Kisan Chavan (26) and Lakshman Dongre (22), and detained two minors in connection with the kidnapping case. The accused are from the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra and reside in the Hinjawadi area.

Based on the complaint from the boy’s mother who hails from Uttar Pradesh and runs a panipuri stall, Hinjawadi police station has registered an FIR. The boy did not return home on the night of July 2. Later, the boy’s father received a call demanding ransom of Rs 20 lakh. He was kidnapped around 9 pm from near Swaraj petrol pump in Hinjawadi phase 2.

His mother lodged a complaint with police. During investigation, the cops traced the accused near Shikrapur. They were going towards Ahmednagar but their car broke down and they had given it to them for repair. They were arrested and the boy was rescued. Police have seized two sharp weapons, five mobile phones as well as the car from the accused.

Police officials said that the accused used to eat for free at the complainant’s stall and when she demanded money they had threatened to kidnap her child. She had ignored their threats earlier.
