Pune, 11th August 2021: Ajay Hinge, a resident of Nhavare in Shirur taluka, and general secretary of Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) West Maharashtra social media department, has been bedridden for the last 15 years due to a serious spinal cord injury, will now be able to move.

Shirur Lok Sabha constituency MP Dr Amol Kolhe has gifted an automatic wheelchair on the occasion of Ajay’s birthday (August 10). Through this chair, Ajay will be able to move and soon he will be able to stand on his feet.

Despite being permanently paralyzed, Ajay is stubbornly struggling for his life without surrendering to the situation. His combative attitude has been noticed by many leaders including NCP President Sharad Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Apart from this, NCP leaders come to Shirur to meet Ajay regularly. MP Supriya Sule is also in contact with him through video conferencing.

Expressing gratitude for the unique birthday gift given by Kolhe, Ajay said, “Fifteen years ago, after passing Class XII, I got a job at Ranjangaon MIDC. Everything was going smoothly. But on 20th June 2006 while returning from work I met with an accident. I was hospitalized for three months in a private hospital. I had a serious spinal cord injury. The only way out was to be bedridden. I was feeling hopeless because of my disability.

I got this automatic wheelchair as a birthday present when I was worried that I would have to be in bed for the rest of my life. It feels like I have been reborn. He gave me this wheelchair as a gift of love as if to say, ‘Ajaysheth, now you can stand up.’ This love and affection have filled my heart. It has given me the strength to fight life with their support.”

A few months ago, MP Supriya Sule gave tools to many disabled people in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency. Ajay’s childhood friend Sudarshan Jagdale was given an automatic wheelchair. With the help of that wheelchair, Sudarshan can stand on his own feet after fifteen years.

Accordingly, Kolhe noticed Ajay could also get an automatic wheelchair. So, he started trying it. Necessary government permits and documents were fulfilled by his office. After that, he got a wheelchair worth Rs three lakh.

“Dr Kolhe gave such an invaluable gift on my birthday. I want to meet him in this wheelchair. I want to express my gratitude to them. And I want to take a selfie with them. Therefore, I am eagerly waiting for him”, said Ajay.

“The purpose was to give him a wheelchair as a birthday present. With the help of a wheelchair, he is confident that he will be able to stand on his own two feet again like Jagdale. Happy Birthday to Ajaysheth”, said MP Dr Amol Kolhe.
