Mumbai Court Orders Minister Dhananjay Munde to Pay Rs 2 Lakh Monthly Maintenance to Estranged Wife and Daughter

Mumbai, 6th February 2025: A family court has directed Maharashtra Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Dhananjay Munde to provide interim maintenance of ₹2 lakh per month to his estranged wife and daughter.
Munde’s first wife had filed a domestic violence case against him in 2020, and the court is yet to deliver a verdict on the main petition. Meanwhile, she sought interim financial support and compensation under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act of 2005.
On Tuesday, the Bandra Family Court partially approved her plea, instructing Munde to pay ₹1,25,000 per month to his wife and ₹75,000 per month to their daughter as interim maintenance. However, the court denied maintenance for their son, stating that he is not eligible as he has reached adulthood.
The minister is also under scrutiny due to the arrest of his close associate, Walmik Karad, in connection with an extortion case linked to the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in Beed district, Munde’s political stronghold in central Maharashtra.
