Mumbai-Pune Expressway Accident: Tempo Rear-Ends Trailer, Passenger Dies on Spot
Khopoli, 5th September 2025: A passenger was killed on the spot in a severe accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Wednesday. The collision occurred on the Mumbai-bound lane at kilometer 36.200, within the jurisdiction of Khopoli police station.
According to authorities, a Tata Tempo was travelling at high speed toward Mumbai when it crashed into a trailer moving ahead. The impact was so forceful that the front portion of the tempo was pushed entirely under the trailer.
The passenger in the tempo became trapped under the trailer’s wheels and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tempo was also seriously injured and trapped inside the vehicle. He was rescued by the company’s emergency response team and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The passenger’s body was carefully removed from the wreckage and transported to Khopoli Municipal Hospital.
The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on the expressway. Khopoli police have registered a case, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
