Panvel, 10th February 2025: Travelers using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will face a major change in their commute as the exit road towards Mumbai at Panvel will remain completely closed for six months starting February 11. The closure is due to construction work at Kalamboli Circle under the Kalamboli Junction Improvement Project. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has announced the construction of a new flyover and underpass at the site, necessitating the long-term closure.

Traffic Restrictions and Alternative Routes
According to Navi Mumbai traffic officials, the closure will impact all types of vehicles, including both light and heavy vehicles traveling towards Panvel, Mumbra, and JNPT. To manage traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement, restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day for the entire duration of the construction.

Authorities have provided alternative routes for commuters:
For vehicles traveling from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway towards Panvel, Goa, and JNPT: Vehicles will be diverted to National Highway-48 via Palaspe Circle at Konphata (9.600 km).

For vehicles traveling from Pune to Mumbai and heading towards Taloja, Kalyan, and Shilphata: They will need to continue on Panvel-Sion Highway for 1.200 km, take a right under the Purusharth Petrol Pump flyover, and proceed via Roadpali and National Highway-48.

Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and expect potential delays due to diversions. Authorities have urged motorists to follow the alternative routes and cooperate with traffic personnel to avoid inconvenience.
