Pune, 4th February 2026: Traffic movement on the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai–Pune Expressway was disrupted on Tuesday after a tanker carrying inflammable gas overturned near the Adoshi Tunnel, triggering congestion and safety concerns along the stretch.
Following the incident, traffic towards Mumbai from the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate limits was diverted from Kiwale onto the old Pune–Mumbai Highway to manage the situation. Officials said the removal of the overturned tanker is in the final stage and the expressway is expected to reopen for traffic from midnight.
In an official advisory, the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel between Pune and Mumbai until the expressway reopens. “Commuters are requested to travel only if absolutely necessary and cooperate with the traffic police to prevent further inconvenience,” the advisory stated.
Motorists have also been advised to plan their journeys based on live traffic conditions and congestion levels on the highway.
The advisory was issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pimpri Chinchwad.
