Pune, 23rd May 2024: Several trains operating between Mumbai and Pune will be cancelled or rescheduled from May 28 to June 2 due to expansion work at platforms 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT). This maintenance work will cause significant disruptions, with some trains terminating at Dadar instead of their usual destinations.

Cancelled Trains

According to the Hindustan Times, the following trains will be affected:

Pragati Express: Cancelled from May 28 to June 2.

Pune-Mumbai Intercity Express: Cancelled from May 31 to June 2.

Deccan Express: Services suspended on June 1 and June 2.

Deccan Queen Express: Services suspended on June 1 and June 2.

Kurla-Margao-Kurla: Services suspended on June 1 and June 2.

This platform maintenance work, lasting nearly two weeks, will significantly impact train operations between Pune and Mumbai.

Previous Disruptions

The maintenance efforts are part of a broader initiative affecting several local stations. On May 22, train services between Byculla and CSMT were disrupted due to a midnight block from 00:30 hrs to 04:30 hrs for pre non-interlocking works. During this period, suburban trains were either short-terminated or started from Panvel and Dadar stations.

Additional Summer Special Trains

To alleviate the pressure on regular services during the summer, Central Railways has introduced sixteen additional weekly special trains between Mumbai and Karimnagar.
