Pune: NDRF Recovers Five Bodies After Ujani Dam Boat Capsize, Search for Sixth Victim Continues
Indapur, 23rd May 2024: On May 21, at around 6:00 PM, a boat transporting passengers from Bhugaon to Kalashi capsized at Ujani Dam in Indapur Tehsil, Pune. Six persons had gone missing after the incident.
After a request from the district administration, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) promptly deployed a team from their Pune unit to the incident site. The team conducted extensive water search operations. The capsized boat has been anchored, and efforts are ongoing to remove it from the water. Additionally, a bike belonging to one of the victims was also recovered.
Assistant Commandant Pravin Dhat of the 5th battalion of the NDRF, Pune, reported that by 8:30 AM today, the bodies of five missing persons had been recovered. The recovered bodies include two males, one female child, one male child, and one female. The search is on for one remaining missing person.
