Nagpur, 1st April 2022: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Divisional Engineer(South), Central Railway, Nagpur for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.8 Lakh from the complainant.
A case was registered against A.B.Chaturvedi, Assistant Divisional Engineer (South), Central Railway, Nagpur on a complaint alleging demand for a bribe of Rs 1.8 lakh for passing the bills of the complainant’s firm. It was further alleged that the said accused demanded the bribe at the rate of 2 % of a total bill of the complainant’s firm to the tune of Rs 89.55 lakh(approx), pending with him.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 1.8 lakh from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which resulted in the recovery of cash of Rs 60.62 Lakh (approx) and other incriminating documents.
The accused will be produced today before the competent court at Nagpur.
