Nagpur Patient Found Omicron COVID Positive, Total Tally Reaches 18 In Maharashtra

Pune/Nagpur, 12th December 2021: A 40-year-old man from Nagpur, who arrived from South Africa on December 5, 2021, is infected with Omicron, according to a report released today by the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune.
As of today, a total of 18 cases of Omicron Variant have been reported in the Maharashtra state (Mumbai -5, Pimpri Chinchwad – 10, Kalyan Dombivali -1, Pune MC -1 & Nagpur -1). Out of these, nine cases have been discharged after a negative RT-PCR test.
Information of patient diagnosed with Omicron today
– Symptoms – Mild
– Currently in isolation at AIIMS Nagpur
– 30 close contacts of this patient have been traced. All are found negative.
– Re-infection – This patient had earlier been diagnosed with covid on 11 April 2021 but his symptoms were mild and there was no need for hospitalization.
– This patient has not received any vaccine.
