Navy’s Daring Mission: 36 Indian Fishermen Rescued After Being Stranded for Days

New Delhi, 29th July 2023: New Delhi, 29th July 2023: The Navy reported on Saturday the successful rescue of 36 Indian fishermen who were stranded in the Bay of Bengal. The rescue mission was carried out by the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khanjar.

According to Commander Vivek Madhwal, the Navy spokesperson, the INS Khanjar, which was deployed in the Bay of Bengal, safely brought back the 36 Indian fishermen who were situated approximately 130 nautical miles off the Tamil Nadu coast.

The fishermen were onboard three fishing vessels named Sabarinathan, Kalaivani, and V Sami. They had been in distress at sea for over two days due to harsh weather conditions, lack of fuel, provisions, and engine breakdown.

Despite facing challenging sea conditions, the INS Khanjar managed to provide the necessary provisions to the stranded fishing vessels and towed them for more than 30 hours, ensuring their secure return to the Chennai harbour on Friday.
