Need to Inculcate the Value of Humanism: Naval Kishor Ram
Pune, 1st August 2025: In today’s world, we cannot survive without the use of science and technology; it has gone beyond our imagination. We need to develop a scientific temperament. Artificial Intelligence is an old tool, but has emerged widely in recent years. Even though technology has solved many of your day-to-day life problems, we should not use it excessively and go mad about it, said Naval Kishor Ram (IAS), Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation.
Symbiosis International Cultural Centre organized International Students Day Celebration on Thursday, 31st July 2025 at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan Auditorium, Senapati Bapat Road, Pune. The municipal commissioner was invited as the Chief Guest for the Function. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Founder and President of Symbiosis and Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, presided over the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Ram said, We have to respect each and every individual irrespective of their background. We need to inculcate the value of humanism. The philosophy of humanism includes the dignity and well-being of each individual. Students are the future leaders; hence, you should think in such a way that whatever you do, it should help the last person in society. Always show empathy and not sympathy towards the people, he added further.
On 31st July, it was the 90th Birthday of Dr. S. B. Mujumdar. In his presidential address, he said, I have dedicated my birthday to the International Students. Today, what I am is because of you, the International students. International students are the future of this world. You all are going to contribute to the world’s understanding, peace and progress.
Education is not merely for marks and degrees but the universities are responsible for creating responsible and global citizens. One earth, one family and one future are the crux of Symbiosis, Dr. Mujumdar added further.
During the program, Dr. Mujumdar and Ram inaugurated Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence – a 24×7 AI-powered virtual assistant that provides accurate info to prospective Students, Faculty and Collaborators and the Symbiosis Merchandise Store, which has a wide range of official Symbiosis-branded products.
Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis and Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) gave the welcome address and Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) gave the vote of thanks. Henry Tebandeke, Uganda, President of the Symbiosis International Students Council, was also present for the function.
