9th January 2024: India has emerged as a thriving center for startups, witnessing a surge in new ventures, with many achieving the coveted status of “Unicorns” – startups valued at over one billion dollars. Presently, India boasts over 100 Unicorn Startups, indicating the rapid growth of these enterprises. Today, we delve into the success story of a startup that transformed old mobile phones into a multi-million rupee enterprise.

Neeraj Chopra, the brain behind Zobox, began this venture that has now escalated into a multi-crore enterprise. This article sheds light on the Zobox Success Story, narrating Neeraj Chopra’s journey in building a successful business worth crores.

Hailing from Delhi, Neeraj’s family history traces back to his grandfather’s migration from Pakistan during the partition. His father’s involvement in the import-export business in Hong Kong led Neeraj to spend considerable years there, immersing himself in education and managing his father’s business. However, circumstances brought Neeraj back to India in 2012, where he noticed a rising demand for power banks with no local production. Seizing this opportunity, he initiated the import of power banks to India, gradually expanding into the electronics market over five years. Drawing from this experience, Neeraj embarked on establishing his own company, Zobox, in 2020.

Zobox’s inception coincided with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown in India. Despite the challenging environment, Neeraj launched his business in December 2020, specializing in refurbishing and selling old mobile phones. Initially met with modest sales figures and limited response, the company faced hurdles in its early stages. However, Zobox quickly gained momentum and witnessed a substantial surge in demand. What initially began as a struggle to sell a hundred mobiles transformed drastically over time.

From its humble beginnings, Zobox has grown exponentially, with daily sales ranging from 20,000 to 25,000 mobiles. Alongside selling refurbished devices, Neeraj established a repair center in Karol Bagh, Delhi. Currently, Zobox boasts a turnover of Rs 50 crores, solidifying its position as a multi-crore enterprise, a testament to Neeraj Chopra’s entrepreneurial journey from adversity to success.
