New Delhi, 6th July 2024: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 counselling has been postponed until further notice. The all-India quota (AIQ) seat counselling for NEET UG was originally set to commence on July 6. This postponement follows the Supreme Court’s decision not to delay the NEET UG counselling that was scheduled to begin today.

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, will address various NEET UG 2024 petitions on July 8.

The petitions include allegations of a paper leak, calls for the exam’s cancellation and reconduction, and demands for an investigation into the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) operations.

NEET UG counselling involves multiple rounds, including stray vacancy and mop-up rounds. Qualified students must register, pay the counselling fee, select and lock their choices, upload necessary documents, and report in person to the assigned institute.

The 15 % AIQ NEET UG counselling includes seats at government colleges, central and deemed universities, seats for children of Insured Persons (IP quota) in Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) medical colleges, and seats at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune.

Additionally, the National Testing Agency recently released the retest results for 813 of the 1563 candidates who took the exam on June 23. The revised results reduced the number of top scorers from 67 to 61. Six candidates, whose scores had initially jumped to a perfect 720/720 due to grace marks for lost exam time, did not achieve a perfect score in the retest but still scored above 680.
