Netflix Announces Animated Mythological Series Kurukshetra, Premiering October 10
New Delhi, 10th September 2025: The timeless saga of the Mahabharata is set to return in a brand-new avatar. Netflix has officially announced its upcoming animated web series Kurukshetra, which will premiere on October 10, 2025.
The series will reimagine the legendary battle of Kurukshetra through high-quality animation, making the grandeur and intensity of the Mahabharata accessible to a new generation of digital viewers. While the number of episodes has not yet been revealed, anticipation is already high.
A newly released promo gives audiences a first look at Lord Krishna and other iconic warriors of the epic. The visuals hint at a richly detailed retelling, blending mythology with modern animation techniques.
The announcement comes on the heels of Mahavatar Narasimha, an animated mythological feature that performed strongly at the box office earlier this year. With mythological adaptations finding consistent success across platforms, industry insiders believe Kurukshetra could strike a chord with both younger audiences and long-time admirers of the Mahabharata.
Since the 1980s, B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharat on Doordarshan has remained a cultural benchmark for mythological storytelling. While no adaptation has quite replicated its iconic impact, Netflix’s Kurukshetra is expected to deliver a fresh, visually immersive experience while staying rooted in the timeless themes of the epic.
Kurukshetra will be available exclusively on Netflix from October 10, 2025.
