The Lighthouse at Kothrud has been launched under a unique PPP model for skilling and livelihood in the city. Whilst Pune Municipal Corporation is providing the location and capital assets, the Lighthouse will be managed by Pune City Connect (PCC), with all operational expenses covered by Nice Technologies Ltd. as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. This is a multi-year partnership targeting to work with youth between the ages of 18-30 living in Kothrud & surrounding communities.

PMC and PCC have collaborated in this pioneering Public Private Partnership since 2016 and Lighthouse Centers have been established so far in Aundh, Hadapsar, Warje, Yerawada, Bhawani Peth, Bibwewadi, Tingre Nagar, Janta Vasahat, Kasba Peth and Wadgaon Sheri. These centers provide the underprivileged youth of Pune a chance to explore new possibilities, enhance their skills and pursue a meaningful career. The Lighthouses have reported excellent outcomes over the last 5 years. 11500 youth have completed their skilling and 7500 youth have secured jobs, most of them for the first time. The Lighthouse employs a unique model by which no livelihood aspiration is denied. 70% of the training is done within the centre and the rest at the training locations of skilling partners who have been appointed through the city.
