Night Curfew Declared in Maharashtra from December 22 to January 5: CM Uddhav Thackeray

Pune, December 21, 2020: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has decided to impose a night curfew in the municipal corporation areas of the state from December 22, Tuesday, from 11 pm to 6 am, which will remain in force till January 5. This decision has been taken in the backdrop of a new and deadlier strain of COVID-19 detected in Britain.

Besides, the government has also decided to make institutional quarantine mandatory for all passengers traveling from all over Europe and the Middle East for 14 days from the time of landing at the airport as well as a home quarantine for passengers from other countries.

CM Thackeray said, “We have to take extra precautions in the state and we have to be more vigilant for the next 15 days.”

The Chief Minister also directed to set up a separate hospital for passengers from Europe if they have symptoms of the new virus. Passengers from other countries will be checked and stamped on their hands and will be subjected to home quarantine. The Chief Minister also directed to provide PPE kits to all airport staff checking passengers from European countries and the Middle East countries.

The chief minister also informed that a meeting of all the district collectors and municipal commissioners would be held to take extra care against the discovery of a new strain of the coronavirus in the UK.
