Nitten Kirrtane Creates History: Wins Double Gold for India at Pickleball World Cup in Florida
Pune, 6th November 2025: Indian tennis ace-turned-pickleball champion Nitten Kirrtane has once again made the nation proud by winning two gold medals at the Pickleball World Cup held in Florida, USA, from October 26 to November 3. The global tournament saw participation from 68 countries.
Kirrtane clinched gold in both the 50+ Men’s Singles and the 50+ Men’s Doubles categories, partnering with Suryaveer Bhullar, President of the Pickleball Association of India. This remarkable feat marks a historic chapter in his distinguished sporting career.
“Life has come a full circle for me,” said Kirrtane, who returned to India today. “Florida has always been lucky — this is where I won my first Tennis World Championship title in 2018. To now win the Pickleball World Cup here makes it truly special and fulfilling.”
With this achievement, Nitten Kirrtane becomes the only Indian athlete to have won world titles in two different sports — Tennis and Pickleball.
Having represented India in the Davis Cup and shared courts with legends like Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, Kirrtane’s transition to pickleball underscores his enduring passion, adaptability, and competitive spirit.
“This isn’t just a win for India — it’s a story of legacy, second innings, and the enduring magic of sport,” said a spokesperson from Pickleball One, lauding Kirrtane’s historic performance.
Reflecting on the growth of pickleball, Kirrtane said, “The sport is growing rapidly in the USA and has tremendous potential in India. I hope more people take up this exciting and inclusive game that’s loved across generations. I also sincerely hope Indian pickleball players receive at least half the recognition and support that cricket players enjoy. We too are giving our best and representing India with pride on the world stage.”
Kirrtane’s double gold win is expected to further boost the popularity of pickleball in India and inspire a new generation of athletes to explore this fast-evolving global sport.
