No Firecrackers This Diwali To Avoid Spread Of COVID-19 Infection: PCMC Municipal Commissioner
Pimpri, November 13, 2020: “Citizens need to take precautionary measures in Diwali to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The use of firecrackers should be avoided as much as possible, keeping in mind that the Covid-infected patients may be affected by the smoke from the firecrackers”, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar appealed to the citizens.
On Wednesday, the commissioner interacted with the citizens through Facebook on the topic of ‘Care to be taken to avoid Corona in Diwali’. He said, “The administration is taking continuous efforts to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. Statistics show that the infection of the virus is currently declining. Since its transmission is high, everyone needs to be careful. Citizens will be required to follow Coronavirus guidelines in Diwali. All assistant health officers, health inspectors and the police administration have been instructed to take strict action against violators.”
Additionally, he said, “No community, cultural, public, social gathering events like ‘Diwali Pahat’ will be allowed. Such events should be organized online. If you need to go out for shopping, you should take proper precautions and prefer to go to less crowded and less crowded places. The use of firecrackers should be avoided or minimized as much as possible, be more vigilant in the public interest and enjoy Diwali. Do not burst firecrackers in parks, grounds, tourist spots, schools etc. Use of firecrackers should be avoided or reduced as much as possible or use of non-polluting, low noise and low smoke crackers should be carried out.”
“The sanitizer used to clean hands is flammable. Therefore, the use of sanitizer should be avoided while lighting lamps and bursting firecrackers in Diwali. Soap or hand wash should be used regularly to clean hands during this period”, Hardikar said.
