No Season Pass For Reserved Trains In Pune
Pune, 28th February 2022: As Corona’s influence waned, the train service was gradually returning to normal. Many trains with reserved tickets are now running on the route. For the last several days, passengers have been demanding the introduction of a monthly season pass service for mail and express trains.
A letter issued by the Commerce Department of the Central Railway clearly stated that the service was not available for reserved trains.
The letter of the department is being interpreted to mean that all trains will be given a monthly season pass facility. However, the season pass service is only available for Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) and local trains. Also in areas where this service is not provided, it needs to be implemented in that area. However, this service has been running in Pune for a few days now. Monthly season service was not started for Pune-Satara and Pune-Kolhapur railway DEMU trains. The service will now be launched for those trains.
Manoj Jhawar, Public Relations Officer, Pune Railway said, “Pune-Mumbai Mail Express train is reserved. Therefore, this train does not have a season pass facility. This service will be provided upon receipt of the order. Passengers who have taken two doses of the vaccine, only they are allowed to travel.”
Harsha Shah, president, Railway Pravasi Group said, “Central Railway is discriminating the passengers in Pune. Why is the season pass not issued even though all services are running smoothly? Nashik-Mumbai Panchavati Express train is given a season pass, but Pune-Mumbai Mail/Express trains are denied, what is the justice?”
She further added, “Railways have given the status of express to general trains. Documents should show which general train runs on the Pune-Mumbai route. Passengers are being held captive for no reason. Railways should immediately start season passes for mail and express trains.”
