No Security Guards At Pavana Dam, Tourists Shoot With Drone

Pune, October 13, 2020: Security lacuna was exposed at Pavana dam after a few tourists were found shooting the dam area with Drone cameras. The irrigation officials opened its door by a half foot to release the dam water. This step was taken suddenly. A power generation unit is also here which helps to release the dam water.

Later, the media persons saw that the dam area was getting shot by a Drone camera. When the media contacted the officials they were surprised and feigned ignorance. Apparently, in 1992 the dam had received threats when Mumbai was under bomb attack. Still, the security lacuna has raised various questions about it.

Deputy engineer Ashok Shete said, “as there was no power, we released the water by 1400 cusecs at around 11.45 am by opening the dam gate by a half foot. When few of the employees saw the drone shooting, they ran behind the persons who were doing it. But they fled from the place. We have registered a complaint against the unknown persons.”

Pavana dam which is the main source of water for Maval and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
