Pune, 28th December 2024: Noble Hospitals and Research Centre has achieved a major milestone by becoming the first hospital in Maharashtra to install the advanced SSI Mantra 3 Robotic System. This state-of-the-art technology is designed to revolutionize surgical precision, enhance patient outcomes, and set new benchmarks in healthcare.

The robotic system was inaugurated by renowned Marathi actor Prasad Oak, in the presence of Dr. Dileep Mane, Chairman and Managing Director of Noble Hospitals; Mr. Satish Magar, Chairman of Magarpatta Township Development; Dr. H.K. Sale, Executive Director of Noble Hospitals; Dr. Divij Mane; Dr. Umesh Paprunia; Dr. Ashish Pokharkar; and other eminent medical professionals.

The SSI Mantra 3 Robotic System integrates cutting-edge advancements in robotic surgery, featuring five flexible robotic arms, an immersive 3D HD headset for enhanced visualization, and a vision cart offering 3D 4K imaging for the entire surgical team. These features ensure superior precision and control, enabling complex surgeries with minimal invasiveness.

“Revolutionizing Surgical Technology”

“This robotic system marks the beginning of a new era in surgical technology,” said Dr. Ashish Pokharkar, Oncosurgeon at Noble Hospitals and Research Centre. “The system will be instrumental in performing life-saving procedures across various specialties, including general surgery, cardio-thoracic surgery, urology, gynecology, and other complex operations. We have already achieved a significant milestone by performing our first surgery using this system—a robotic right extended hemicolectomy on a patient with colon carcinoma.”

Minimally Invasive, Maximum Recovery

Highlighting the patient benefits, Dr. H.K. Sale, Executive Director of Noble Hospitals, explained, “The system allows for the most minimally invasive approach, using fingertip-sized incisions and advanced instruments with an unparalleled range of motion compared to laparoscopic or open surgery. This translates to shorter hospital stays, minimal discomfort, and a quicker return to daily activities for patients.”

Commitment to Excellence in Healthcare

Speaking about the hospital’s continuous pursuit of innovation, Dr. Dileep Mane, Chairman and Managing Director, stated, “Installing the SSI Mantra 3 Robotic System underscores our commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes and experiences. This is part of our broader mission to consistently enhance healthcare standards.”

Dr. Divij Mane, Director of Noble Hospitals, reflected on the hospital’s ongoing achievements. “Last year, we became the first hospital in Pune to receive the prestigious JCI Golden Seal, a globally recognized healthcare accreditation. This year, we established a state-of-the-art Human Milk Bank, and now we’ve introduced this advanced robotic system. Our focus remains on maintaining the highest standards in healthcare and providing the latest technological advancements to our skilled doctors,” he said.

First Surgery: A Success Story

The first robotic surgery at Noble Hospitals using the SSI Mantra 3 system was performed on a 34-year-old female dentist who presented with symptoms of upper rectal bleeding and severe anemia. Diagnosed with right-sided colon cancer and a 10 cm tumor, the team opted for the robotic system to ensure greater precision.

“The robotic system offers surgeons an expanded range of motion, a magnified 3D view, and ergonomic comfort through a console-based operation,” explained Dr. Ashish Pokharkar. “In this case, the system enabled us to achieve superior precision, resulting in faster recovery for the patient. She was able to pass motions by the fourth day and was discharged the same day.”

Dr. Dileep Mane expressed his gratitude to the entire team, saying, “I commend our doctors, nurses, and support staff for their unwavering dedication to achieving superior clinical outcomes and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care.”
