Now Apply Online For A New Electricity Connection
Mumbai, 21 December, 2020: Now apply online for a new electricity connection and get the connection within the prescribed timeline; in case connection is not provided, penalty will be credited into the applicant’s account.
Maximum time of 7 days in metro cities, 15 days in other cities and 30 days in rural areas has been laid down, for getting a new connection, since date of application informed Secretary of Ministry of Power. There will be a call centre for availing consumer services.
Consumer Grievance Redressal Mechanism Forum will include both consumer and prosumer representatives informed Power Secretary.
“We are empowering the common man through the new Rules, service providers cannot provide poor service without avoiding penalties – consumers’ rights will have remedies to deal with their violation. Timelines have been prescribed for all services where consumer interface is present. For the first time, we have said that consumers have rights, these rights are enforceable & their violation will result in penalties”, said Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R K Singh.
