Now Pimpri Chinchwad Police To Take Action Against Those Found Cutting Trees Without Permission

Pimpri-Chinchwad, November 4, 2020: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police will take action against those cutting trees without the prior permission in the limits of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash has directed the senior police inspectors of all police stations to take appropriate action if anyone is found chopping any tree without permission.

From the last few days, many complaints about illegally cutting trees from various parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad city have been received. The environmentalist expressed their anger saying that the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been ignoring it.

Against this backdrop, the Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash directed to take action against anyone found cutting trees illegally. The action will be taken under section 152 (prevention of injury to public property) under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and section 20A (prevention of felling or destruction of trees) of Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Tree Conservation and Preservation Act.

Even for cutting of a single tree, permission of Tree Authority is necessary. Municipal Tree Authority may give permission to cut a tree in PCMC area. You can submit an application in prescribed form in the name of ‘Tree Officer‘, at Citizen Facilitation Center.

On receipt of application in prescribed form, Controlling Officer visits the site and submits report. Tree Authority gives its verdict after the visit. Wthin 60 days from the date of receipt of application the applicant is communicated about the favourable or adverse decision.
Following documents need to be submitted along with the application
1) The documents about ownership right
2) Approved building plan/permission (if any)
3) Photograph of tree proposed to be cut (if possible)
4) Undertaking as per section 11 (2)
