Number Of Patients Recovering From Covid Increasing In Pune, This Is A Comforting Thing: Ajit Pawar

Pune, 24th April 2021: Despite the increasing number of Covid patients in Pune, the number of patients recovering from Covid is also increasing, which is a matter of great relief, said Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar.

He was speaking at a review meeting on the Covid situation at the Vidhan Bhavan (Council Hall) in Pune. MP Girish Bapat, MP Shrirang Barne, MP Dr Amol Kolhe, Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, MLAs Chandrakant Patil, Sunil Tingre, Sunil Shelke, Atul Benke, Chetan Tupe and Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Yashada’s Director-General S Chokkalingam, Inspector General of Registration Shravan Hardikar, Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash, Special Inspector General of Police Manoj Lohiya, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Zilla Parishad Ayush Prasad, Retired Director-General of Health Dr Subhash Salunke were present.

Pawar inquired about the current status of Covid, measures being taken by the administration and vaccination. He said that in order to prevent Covid patients from feeling deficient in oxygen and Remdesivir, it is necessary to use Remdesivir injection and oxygenated beds as per the guidelines of the health department. The state government is making every effort to ensure that the oxygen supply required for Covid patients is restored. Emphasize empowering the health system to provide medical treatment to the patients, he said.

Appreciating the hard work of all the officers along with the doctors for controlling the Covid as well as providing medical services, Pawar said, “Increase the health services for the Covid patients. Properly plan the available manpower in the medical field. Plan your doctor’s work schedule. Be aware that oxygen and ventilator beds will not be depleted in urban and rural areas. Notice the strict adherence to the rules by patients in home isolation.”

He also directed the concerned authorities to implement a strict policy in the case of Remdesivir and promote the Covid vaccination drive. Broadcast videos of interviews with medical experts on social media to reassure Covid patients. It will also resolve the issues in the minds of the common man, he said.

Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said that various measures are being taken on behalf of Pune Municipal Corporation for controlling the Covid. Currently, Covid patients in the city need oxygen and ventilator beds. The number of beds with oxygen and ventilator for critically ill patients needs to be increased soon.

MP Girish Bapat said vigilance committees and NCC students should be involved in the control work. As the vaccination of citizens above 18 years of age will be done from May 1, planning is required in this regard.

MP Dr Amol Kolhe said that the supply of oxygen and Remdesivir to the district is less than the demand. Nevertheless, all the officers in the district seem to have done the right thing. The dashboard needs to be updated to know the availability of beds.

MP Shrirang Barne said that the audit of hospital bills needs to be done strictly. Remdesivir should only be used in patients who are hospitalized as needed.

Dr Subhash Salunke said Covid patients in other states are also rising. Therefore, it may be difficult to get enough oxygen from other states soon. Planning is being done keeping this in mind, he said, adding that measures are being taken for the control of Covid-19.

Dr D B Kadam said that the treatment and instructions given by the doctors are not being followed by the patients in the home isolation. And the condition of these patients is deteriorating. Physicians must follow the guidelines regarding the use of Remedesivir injection.

Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said that efforts are being made by the administration to ensure the proper use of oxygen and increase the availability of oxygen in the district.

Rao gave information on vaccination system, hospital management, patient positivity rate, mortality rate, availability of ambulance in rural Pune, jumbo covid hospital management, demand and current status of oxygen and Remdesivir as well as field wise information of Covid affected patients in Pune district.

District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh informed about the measures being taken by the administration. He informed about the demand of the district for oxygen and Remdesivir and the measures to be taken to ensure a smooth supply.
