Omicron Variant COVID Positive Patients In Pune District Are Asymptomatic Or Have Fewer Symptoms

Pune, 10th December 2021: A Covid management meeting was held today at the Council Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar.

In the Pune district, 100% of eligible people have received the first dose of vaccination and the second dose should also be given to the eligible citizens, Pawar said.

He appealed to the people’s representatives in the less vaccinated talukas to take initiative to encourage the citizens to get vaccinated.

Pawar said that more precautions need to be taken against the background of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus. Citizens should be encouraged to get vaccinated against the virus. The number of people taking the second dose of vaccine has increased in the last week under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign and efforts should be made to maintain it. He directed to focus especially on the less vaccinated talukas like Indapur, Baramati and Daund.

Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao informed about the situation of Covid in the district through a presentation. There are 10 patients infected with Omicron in Maharashtra, out of which 7 are in the Pune district. All of these patients are asymptomatic or have fewer symptoms. Vaccination has been stepped up in the district. In the last 10 days, 8 lakh vaccine doses have been given, out of which the first dose is 33% and the second dose is 67%. The district has crossed the milestone of 1 crore 38 lakhs in vaccination and is second in the state.
The heirs of 19,174 persons who died due to Covid will get the assistance of Rs 50,000 each.

Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Minister of State Dattatraya Bharane, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council Dr Nilam Gorhe, ZP President Nirmala Pansare, Pimpri Chinchwad Mayor Usha Dhore, MP Shrirang Barne, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh were present at the meeting.
