Omkar Singh Creates History as First Indian to Win Best Pistol Shooter Title at World Military Shooting Championship

New Delhi, 30th June 2025: In a historic achievement for India, Omkar Singh, Master Chief Petty Officer I (MCPO I) of the Indian Navy, has been named the Best Pistol Shooter at the 55th Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Military Shooting Championship held in Norway.
This marks the first time an Indian shooter has secured the prestigious title in the history of the championship, making it a proud moment for the Services Sports ecosystem and the nation as a whole.
The CISM World Military Shooting Championship is regarded as one of the most challenging and prestigious competitions among military marksmen worldwide. Singh’s landmark victory underscores India’s growing prowess in shooting sports and reflects the high standards of training and skill within the Indian Armed Forces.
Officials from the Services Sports Control Board hailed Singh’s performance, calling it “inspirational” for future generations of Indian military sportspersons.
