Mumbai/Pune, 16th September 2025: Traffic on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway will be halted for one hour today (Tuesday) between 2 pm and 3 pm to facilitate work by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). Officials said the shutdown is necessary to install a feeder and transmission line near the Bhatan tunnel.

During the closure, vehicles traveling from Mumbai towards Pune will be diverted from Kalamboli Circle via JNPT Road to reach D-Point at Palaspe junction on NH-48. Motorists heading from Pune towards Mumbai will be rerouted from the Shedung exit to connect back to NH-48 at the Khopoli exit.

An official from the Highway Police said, “This is a planned closure to ensure safety during the power line installation. Diversions have been arranged, and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.”

MSEDCL also appealed to citizens for cooperation, stating, “The feeder installation is a critical part of strengthening power infrastructure in the region. We request motorists to follow diversion routes and bear with the temporary disruption.”

Authorities have urged commuters to factor in additional travel time while journeying between Mumbai and Pune during the specified period.
