‘One Pune Student Pass’ Now Free on Pune Metro for Limited Period
Pune, 24th July 2025: In a significant move benefiting students across the city, Pune Metro has announced that the ‘One Pune Student Pass Card’ will be available free of cost from 25th July to 15th September. The initiative comes just ahead of the new academic year and aims to make metro travel more accessible for students in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The Pune Metro project has completed its first phase, with 29 stations now operational. With daily ridership exceeding 1.90 lakh passengers and steadily rising, students represent a major share of commuters. Recognizing this, Pune Metro has rolled out a special student-focused campaign.
Under this initiative, students pursuing education up to the undergraduate level can obtain the student pass card free of cost, a card that normally costs Rs 118 (Rs 100 + Rs 18 GST). However, a mandatory top-up of Rs 200 is required at the time of issuing the card. This full amount will be credited to the student’s card for travel, with no deductions or extra fees.
The pass also provides a 30% daily discount on all metro travel for students, significantly easing travel expenses. Pune Metro officials believe this initiative will not only promote the use of public transport but also foster an inclusive, student-friendly environment across the city.
Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar emphasized the growing number of students using the metro and urged them to take advantage of this scheme as the new academic session begins. “We are witnessing a large number of students relying on Pune Metro for their daily commute. This special discount initiative is designed to support them. Schools, colleges, and educational institutions along metro routes are encouraged to inform their students and ensure they benefit from this offer,” he said.
Students pursuing education up to undergraduate level (with valid KYC verification). Students under 18 years must apply under their parent’s name, with parent KYC. Pune Metro has appealed to all eligible students to take advantage of this golden opportunity and enjoy affordable, efficient, and comfortable travel.
