Online and Distance MBA Courses at Pune University Draw Over 550 Students This Year
Pune, 30th October 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has witnessed a strong response to its management programmes offered through online and distance education this academic year. A total of 333 students have enrolled in the online MBA, while 236 students have opted for the distance learning mode, reflecting the growing acceptance of flexible higher education options.
The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), which oversees these courses, has also launched an online MCA programme for the first time. The new course attracted 69 admissions in its inaugural year. Across various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the CDOE has recorded 2,676 admissions for the current session.
Speaking about the trend, CDOE Director Dr. Vaibhav Jadhav said, “Our programmes are attracting a diverse group of learners — from working professionals and entrepreneurs to homemakers and full-time students. The affordability of Pune University’s courses and the flexibility of semester-wise fee payments have made higher education more accessible.”
He added that the response to the newly introduced MCA course was slightly lower due to the delay in receiving final approval. “We are confident that with timely permissions, better outreach, and awareness campaigns next year, more students will join these programmes,” Jadhav said.
University officials noted that the CDOE aims to expand its digital education offerings further, providing students across India with access to quality and affordable education backed by SPPU’s academic reputation.
