Outstanding Debut by Team MMC INDIA at the International Mathematics Competition 2025

Pune, 12th August 2025: Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana, Pune, is proud to announce the stellar performance of Team MMC India at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students 2025, held from 28th July to 3rd August in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The event, hosted by the American University in Bulgaria and organized by University College London, brought together over 430 top undergraduate students from around the world, representing 73 university teams

Team MMC India was selected on the basis of their performance in the Madhava Mathematics Competition, a national-level competition for undergraduate students organized by Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana, Pune. The said competition has taken place in several parts of the country since 2009 -10. In the year 2025, around 4000 students took part in the competition. Making its first-ever appearance at the IMC, the team delivered a remarkable performance on the global stage.

Atmadeep Sengupta (ISI Kolkata) – Second Prize (55 points)
Sourodeep Kanjilal (ISI Kolkata) – Second Prize (51 points)
Anshuman Agrawal (ISI Bangalore) – Second Prize (46 points)
Arnab Sanyal (ISI Kolkata) – Third Prize (42 points)

The team secured an impressive 27th position out of 73 participating teams, a remarkable achievement considering this was their first time at the competition.

The team was led with great commitment and academic guidance by Prof. V. M. Sholapurkar from Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana and Prof. B. Sury from ISI, Bangalore, both of whom played instrumental roles in mentoring and preparing the students. Prof. Sholapurkar was also honoured at the event as one of the most effective team leaders, a testament to his dedication and leadership.

The participation of MMC India was made possible through the generous support of the National Board of Higher Mathematics (DAE, Government of India), whose encouragement and funding enabled this valuable international exposure for young Indian mathematical talent.

This outstanding debut marks a significant milestone for Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana and for Indian undergraduate mathematics education. It demonstrates the high calibre of talent emerging from our national platforms and the potential of our students to excel globally.
