Over 1,000 Hajj Pilgrims Receive Vaccinations at Pune Health Camp
Pune, 9th February 2026: As part of preparations for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, 1,068 pilgrims from Pune city and district were vaccinated at a special health camp held at Sonawane Hospital. The initiative was organized jointly by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Health Department, Khidmat Hajj Committee, and Khuddam-e-Hujjaj Hajj Committee, marking a key step in the mandatory health protocols for Hajj travel.
The camp, conducted on Sunday, was supervised by Assistant Health Officer Rajesh Dighe, along with Vaccination Medical Officers Dr. Arvind Makhar and Dr. Abdulsalam Sutar, and nursing staff including Sandesh Deshpande, Shumbagi Waghapure, and Neha Murkute. Vaccination area management was overseen by Atul Shirsat and Taufiq Shaikh.
A total of 15 doctors, 30 nurses, and 15 support staff carried out thorough health screenings for all pilgrims before administering vaccines. Pilgrims received meningitis and polio vaccines, while individuals above 65 years or with conditions such as diabetes or hypertension were additionally given the flu vaccine.
Health certification and vaccination are mandatory for all Hajj pilgrims, and completion of these procedures is required for travel clearance.
The event was attended by MLA Hemant Rasane and corporators Rafik Shaikh and Haji Gafur Pathan, who commended the smooth organization. To facilitate record-keeping and data updates, 20 laptops with internet connectivity were deployed under the supervision of Haji Khalid Attar, ensuring efficient documentation of vaccinations.
Senior members from the Khidmat Hajj Committee, including Haji Basit Shaikh, Maulana Rashid Miftahi, Haji Yusuf Parihar, Haji Zahid Shaikh, Haji Sadiq Chaudhary, Haji Arman Tamboli, Haji Nasir Qazi, Haji Shaheed Tamboli, Wahid Biabani, Shahrukh Sayyed, Azim Bhai Gudaku Wala, Haji Ashraf Bhai, Haji Irfan Khan, and Adil Dilawar, as well as leaders from the Khuddam-e-Hujjaj Committee, Haji Riaz Qazi, Saeed Khan, Mahebub Shaikh, Sattar Chacha, and Usman Shaikh, were present to oversee the proceedings.
The health camp highlights the coordinated efforts of municipal authorities and Hajj committees to guarantee the well-being and safety of pilgrims, ensuring they meet all medical requirements ahead of the sacred journey.
