Over 80,000 Women Avail MSRTC’s ‘Mahila Sanman’ Scheme In Pune

Pune, 4th April 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation’s ‘Mahila Sanman’ scheme has received an excellent response from Pune. More than 80,000 women have traveled from Swargate, Shivajinagar, and Pune stations in the last 15 days. Most of them have traveled from Pune to Satara, Kolhapur, Dadar, Nashik, Beed, and Latur.

In this year’s budget, Finance Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the ‘Mahila Sanman’ scheme, which offers a 50 per cent discount on all types of ST bus ticket fares for women. MSRTC started implementing this scheme on 17th March.

From 17th March to 1st April, 80,866 women have benefited from this scheme at Swargate, Shivajinagar, and Pune stations in Pune city. Earlier, senior citizens between 65 and 75 years of age were given a 50 per cent discount on all types of ST bus ticket fares. Now women can also get a discount.

On the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in November, the state government provided free travel concessions in all types of ST buses to senior citizens who completed 75 years. This scheme has also received a good response from senior citizens.

MSRTC officials stated that due to these various schemes, the number of passengers traveling through ST has significantly increased, and the number is expected to double during the summer vacation.
