Narhe, 4th April 2023: Entrepreneurs in Narhe, Pune, have reported that the lack of infrastructure and increasing traffic jams and encroachments are negatively impacting their businesses. In the past four years, approximately 40% of the 2,000 small-scale industries have migrated due to these issues. If the situation continues, they warn that the town may disappear in the future.

Located at the gate of both Narhe and Dhayari villages, the industries have experienced increasing problems for the past five years. As urbanization in the area has grown due to the villages coming under the municipal corporation, issues with infrastructure have become more severe.

Satish Mutha, the director of C-Tech Engineers Private Limited, expressed his frustration with the municipal corporation’s management. He believes that they are only collecting taxes and not addressing the town’s issues. Mutha argued that a tax system specific to small-scale industries should be implemented rather than a general business tax.

Additionally, the entrepreneurs have highlighted the poor condition of the roads in the village, along with increasing encroachments. These issues are making it difficult to transport goods. Even when the area was under the Gram Panchayat, the entrepreneurs did not face issues with water and waste. But now, after paying crores in tax, they continue to suffer.

The entrepreneurs in Narhe are requesting the municipal corporation to address these issues before it’s too late. If the problems continue, they warn that more industries will migrate from the town, leading to its eventual disappearance.
