Parents Advised to Seek Early Developmental Screening for Repeated Childhood Concerns
Pune, 26th December 2025: Walnut Child Development Clinics, a Pune-based network of child development centres founded in 2019, has urged parents to opt for early developmental checks instead of a “wait and watch” approach when they notice recurring concerns in their children.
According to the clinics, many developmental challenges begin subtly but can intensify as academic expectations increase and daily routines become more demanding. Early screening or assessment can help families determine whether a child’s development falls within a typical range, requires monitoring, or would benefit from timely intervention.
Walnut Clinics recommends basic developmental check-ups when parents observe repeated concerns such as delayed speech, unclear articulation, limited eye contact, difficulty following instructions, frequent emotional outbursts, or a short attention span. Other indicators may include clumsiness, sensory sensitivities to noise or touch, feeding difficulties, delayed play skills, and struggles with pre-academic readiness. Early intervention, the clinics say, can help reduce frustration for children, provide clarity for caregivers, and enable more structured support at home and school.
The clinics offer integrated care through a coordinated team of certified occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, special educators, and behavioural therapists working under one roof. Services include early screening and assessments, speech therapy, fluency and voice therapy, occupational and sensory integration therapy, behavioural therapy, remedial education, paediatric physiotherapy, parent counselling, and group therapy sessions. Walnut Clinics commonly support children with autism, ADHD, speech delays, learning disabilities, sensory processing issues, and general developmental delays.
“Parents often tell us they were hoping their child would ‘grow out of it’,” said Dr Chanchal Agrawal, Founder and Clinical Director of Walnut Child Development Clinics. “Sometimes that does happen, but when it doesn’t, children may start internalising difficulties long before they are expressed openly. Early screening is not about labelling; it is about understanding what is typical, what needs monitoring, and what can be strengthened early.”
The founding team of Walnut Child Development Clinics said the organisation was built on the idea that families should not have to consult multiple specialists independently. “When professionals collaborate across speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, special education and behavioural support, families receive clearer guidance, and children benefit from consistent goals across settings,” the team said.
Walnut’s programmes focus on functional and measurable skills such as communication, attention, play, self-care, handwriting readiness, motor planning, emotional regulation, and classroom participation. Therapy plans are personalised, reviewed at regular intervals, and designed to support continuity across home, school, and social environments.
Having supported over 5,000 families, Walnut Child Development Clinics currently operates centres in Kharadi, Fatima Nagar, Tingre Nagar, PCMC, and Baramati. Appointments are available for in-clinic evaluations, therapy programmes, and parent guidance sessions.
