Reported By Amit Singh
New Delhi, 19th July 2025: An Indian Railways passenger has alleged mistreatment by a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) after seeking assistance due to an unconfirmed ticket. The incident, which came to public attention through a video posted on social media, has raised concerns about how railway staff handle interactions with passengers holding waitlisted tickets.
According to the complainant, the ticket had remained in the waiting list and was not confirmed at the time of travel. The passenger approached the TTE during the journey requesting help in securing a seat. In the video clip shared online, the TTE is seen responding in a manner that the passenger described as humiliating and dismissive.
The video has since gone viral, prompting widespread discussion on social media about passenger treatment and accountability of on-duty railway personnel.
Following the circulation of the video, the official Twitter handle of RailwaySeva responded to the complaint. “We regret the inconvenience caused. We request you to kindly share your travel details (PNR/UTS number) and mobile number optionally via DM with us. You can also register your complaint directly at https://www.railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in for prompt resolution,” the response read.
The incident has brought renewed attention to passenger grievances involving waitlisted tickets, particularly in peak travel seasons, and the conduct of railway staff during such interactions.
Past instances of similar complaints regarding the handling of passengers without confirmed tickets have also been documented, pointing to recurring operational challenges within the Indian Railways system.
