Maval, 29th October 2024: In Pune District, a young man was murdered due to past animosity after being beaten by two assailants. Although a feud existed, they pretended to resolve the issue and took him out for drinks. To avoid suspicion, the accused disposed of the body in a sugarcane field belonging to another individual. The duo has since been arrested by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police. This incident occurred on the night of 27th October in Darumbre, located in Maval Taluka.

Narendra Kisan Sorate, a 52-year-old resident of Darumbre, reported the crime to the Shirgaon Police Station. The police arrested Sangram, also known as Namdev Maroti Sorate (32), and Navnath Waghole (34), both residents of Darumbre, Maval. They face charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 103(1) (punishment for murder), Section 238 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offence or providing false information to screen an offender), and Section 3(5) (acts done by several individuals in furtherance of common intention).

The deceased has been identified as Akshay Narendra Sorate, aged 28, and he was the son of the complainant.

According to police reports, the accused suspected the deceased of stealing from Namdev’s pan shop. There had also been prior altercations involving mutual insults. Despite these past conflicts, the duo managed to resolve their differences and invited the deceased for drinks on the night of 27th October. After consuming alcohol, driven by anger from their previous feud, they attacked the deceased with a heavy object, resulting in severe injuries and ultimately his death. To avoid suspicion and evade justice, they disposed of the body in a sugarcane field belonging to Deepak Sorate.

The Shirgaon Police acted swiftly, arresting both suspects shortly after the case was registered. They have been placed in police custody for seven days, as confirmed by Police Sub Inspector Ashok Kendra, the investigating officer in this case.
