PCMC assures water safe to drink, after vomiting, diarrhea complaints registered
Pimpri, July 6, 2020: Drinking water in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area is safe for consumption, assured the water supply department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The civic administration has been receiving numerous calls from residents complaining about vomiting, diarrhea and stomach ache. Taking action over the complaints registered, PCMC’s water supply department inspected the water quality of these areas. The administration has affirmed that water quality in the Pimpri-Chinchwad areas is good to consume.
PCMC’s water supply department joint city engineer Ramdas Tambe informed that as per the complaints received, the water supply department checked the water distributed at these areas and found it contained chlorine diluted in it. An adequate or safe amount of Chlorine is added in water to keep water safe and consumable. “To ensure there is no harmful bacteria or virus in the water, samples of water from these areas were collected for live testing. For a double check, the samples were also tested at an external laboratory. The results concluded that water supplied in those areas are safe for drinking,” said Tambe.
Therefore, the official has appealed citizens of the Pimpri-Chinchwad area to not panic. “There could be other reasons like a viral infection or anything else to vomiting, diarrhea and stomach ache. Required testing of these patients will be conducted,” he said.
