Pune, August 6, 2020: Sports Fitness Expert Association (SFEA) of Maharashtra protested outside the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) building on Thursday (August 6), demanding the reopening of gyms against the backdrop of the Central Government’s decision allowing the gyms to reopen.

The association members protested with posters in their hand, which questioned that if open gyms are allowed, then why not indoor gyms? If the gyms are closed, how will the country stay fit? How many COVID cases have been reduced by keeping gyms closed for the last five months?

Seeking the answers to all these questions, the protesters held a silent protest. Sagar Godamgave, a member of the association, said, “We do not seek fame, we are struggling, and we want answers.” Later, a few members were called to the office of the Additional Commissioner of PCMC Ajit Pawar, where Godamgave cited Pawar saying, “I am a fitness enthusiast too, but the situation isn’t under my control. If you want answers, I request you to meet officials from Mantralay who could be able to help you.”

Godamgave said, “The central government has allowed the reopening of gyms, but why is the State Government opposing this. Are we all safe now? Reopening of Gyms will only boost immunity. We will ensure the utmost safety of our customers. We are under financial stress now, and we would now approach the Ministry of the State government to look into the matter.”
