PCMC’s 100% Voter Turnout Target: 25 Polling Stations to Be Set Up in Local Housing Societies

Pimpri, 6th November 2024: A coordination meeting of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Society Federation, and Housing Associations has decided to achieve 100 percent voter turnout at polling stations in housing societies across the three assembly constituencies of Pimpri, Bhosari, and Chinchwad. Polling stations have been set up in 25 housing societies, and the PCMC will provide materials to promote voter awareness within these societies.

The PCMC has developed a comprehensive plan to increase voter turnout across all three constituencies in the upcoming assembly elections. To facilitate voting and boost participation, 25 polling stations have been set up in 15 major housing societies under the jurisdiction of the PCMC—12 in Chinchwad, six in Pimpri, and seven in Bhosari.

Voting for the assembly elections will be held on 20th November. To increase voter participation, the PCMC is conducting a public awareness campaign. A coordination meeting was held with representatives from the society federations and housing societies, chaired by Additional Commissioner Vijayakumar Khorate. Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade, Voter Registration Officer Pankaj Patil, Assistant Commissioner of the Municipal Election Department Avinash Shinde, President of the Pune District Cooperative Housing Society and Apartments Federation Suhas Patwardhan, Vice President Subhash Karnik, and President of the Chikhali-Moshi Housing Society Federation Sanjeev Sangle were present at the meeting.

Additional Commissioner Khorate emphasized the need for housing organizations to coordinate with Voter Center Officers in their areas. He urged that initiatives be taken to inform voters about any changes in polling station locations, which would help achieve the targeted voter turnout more effectively. Khorate also encouraged voters to organize awareness programs through cultural committees within housing societies.

The PCMC has launched the ‘Know Your Polling Station’ service to help citizens identify their designated polling stations. Citizens can now obtain polling station information through the helpline number 8888006666.

The Pune District Co-operative Housing Society and Apartments Federation has committed to supporting the PCMC in reaching the target of 100 percent voter turnout in housing societies. Suhas Patwardhan, President of the Pune District Co-operative Housing Society and Apartments Federation, stated that the facilities provided by the PCMC for voting will be actively promoted to ensure greater voter participation in the societies.
