Penguin Random House India Flags Unauthorized Circulation of General Naravane’s Memoir
New Delhi, 10th February 2026: Penguin Random House India (PRHI) has issued a public clarification stating that Four Stars of Destiny, the memoir of former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, has not yet been released, and any copies currently being shared are unauthorized and illegal.
The publisher said it holds exclusive publishing rights to the book and confirmed that no version — print or digital — has been officially published, distributed, or made available for sale. The statement comes amid recent public discussion and media reports concerning the yet-to-be-released memoir.
PRHI warned that circulation of the book in any form, whether online or offline, in full or in part, including PDFs or printed copies, amounts to a copyright infringement. It stressed that such dissemination must stop immediately and added that the company is prepared to pursue legal remedies against those responsible for illegal distribution.
The publishing house said the statement was issued to formally place its position on record.
General Manoj Mukund Naravane also shared the publisher’s statement on social media by retweeting it, signalling his endorsement of the clarification.
General Naravane served as Chief of the Indian Army from 2019 to 2022, and his memoir has attracted significant attention even before publication.
