Pune, 16th August 2021: Though the administration in Pune (Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and District Collector) have allowed in their revised lockdown orders that people who have completed both doses of COVID vaccination can travel in local trains, it seems the journey will take few days to start.
Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Renu Sharma told PunekarNews.in that railways have requested the local administration to come out with a mechanism for issuing passes to passengers.
“In line with the guidelines issued by the Government of Maharashtra and the local administration for traveling in local trains, we have requested the local administration to give identity cards to people who have taken both doses of the Covid vaccine and those who have completed 14 days after the second dose. After that we will issue monthly season tickets for Pune-Lonavala local train passengers”, Sharma said.
When contacted, District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh told PunekarNews.in, “I have already spoken to the PMC and PCMC commissioners and they will be deploying necessary manpower and put in place mechanism for the tickets in consultation with railways. It will be done in 2-3 days.”
