Pune: Suspended Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Sub-Inspector Faces Fresh Rs 93 Lakh Fraud Allegations
Pimpri Chinchwad, 27th November 2025: A suspended Police Sub-Inspector from Pimpri-Chinchwad, previously caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) accepting a bribe of ₹46.5 lakh, is now facing fresh allegations of large-scale financial fraud. Pramod Chintamani has been accused of duping seven individuals of a total ₹93 lakh by promising to double their investments within 20 months.
Bhosari Police have registered a case against Chintamani, along with an autorickshaw driver and a real estate agent who allegedly aided him in the scheme. Before his suspension in the ACB case, Chintamani was posted with the Economic Offences Wing.
According to a complaint filed by a 43-year-old resident of Rahatani, Chintamani persuaded him in 2023 to invest ₹18 lakh with a promise of doubling it within 20 months. Trusting the officer, the complainant handed over the money. However, Chintamani returned only ₹15.4 lakh, failing to repay the remaining ₹20.6 lakh.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Chintamani had similarly collected approximately ₹70 lakh from six other individuals, offering either to double their money or provide a 4% monthly profit. Witness statements confirm that he amassed a total of ₹93 lakh from all the complainants through false assurances.
Police suspect that more victims may come forward as the investigation progresses, potentially increasing the total fraud amount. The Bhosari Police are conducting further inquiries under the supervision of senior officials.
