Photographer from Chennai Scammed in Pune, Equipment Worth Rs 12.85 Lakh Stolen

Pune, 24th January 2025 – A photographer from Chennai fell victim to a scam in Pune, losing equipment worth ₹12.85 lakh. The incident occurred when the victim was lured to Pune under the pretext of a pre-wedding photoshoot.
The Bund Garden Police have registered a case against two suspects following a complaint filed by Raghavendra M. Gokul, 29, from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. According to police reports, the scammers contacted Raghavendra’s brother on 18th January, offering a pre-wedding shoot in Pune and Goa for ₹ 3 Lakh, including accommodation and travel expenses.
The criminals initially transferred ₹19,000 online to gain trust. Raghavendra and his brother arrived in Pune by flight on 22nd January and were directed to a lodge near Pune Railway Station. The next morning, the suspects instructed them to meet a client near the Corinthians Resort and Club in Undri.
Upon returning to their lodge, they discovered their equipment missing, including three cameras, lenses, and other gear. CCTV footage revealed a person leaving the lodge room with the stolen equipment. The Aadhaar card used for booking the room showed addresses in Nizamabad, Telangana, and Nagpur. Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Chavan is leading the investigation.
