Pimpri-Chinchwad: Anti-Dacoity Squad Busts Gang Involved In Robberies And Burglaries; Valuables Worth Rs 12 Lakh Recovered
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 18th August 2023: The anti-dacoity squad of Pimpri Chinchwad police have successfully apprehended a criminal gang responsible for a string of robberies, forceful thefts, and burglaries in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
During the operation, the police managed to seize 187 grams of gold ornaments, valued at Rs 12.1 lakh, along with a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the arrested suspects. The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Kiran Gurunath Rathod, Arjun Kalappa Suryavanshi, and Santosh Jaihind Gupta.
Police Naik Rajesh Kaushalye had received a tip-off about the accused. Unfortunately, he passed away in an accident a day after their arrest.
According to police officials, the prime suspect, Kiran Raghunath Rathod, was apprehended in the Dighi locality. Subsequent investigations have unveiled a trail of numerous thefts spanning the last eight to ten months. His associates, Arjun Kalappa Suryavanshi and Santosh Jaihind Gupta, were also detained and subjected to thorough interrogation. As a result of police inquiries, it was disclosed that the accused have confessed to their involvement in five burglary cases and one robbery.
The operation was executed under the leadership of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Police Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Crime Branch) Swapna Gore, ACP Satish Mane, and Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam, API Amrish Deshmukh, PSI Bharat Gosavi, late Police Naik Rajesh Kaushalye, and police personnel Sumit Deokar, Ganesh Sawant, Vinod Veer, Ashish Bunkar, Ganesh Shinde, Ganesh Hinge, Ganesh Kokane, Umesh Pulgam, Raskar, Amar Kadam, Mahesh Khande, Nitin Lokhande, Sagar Shedge, Rahul Kharge, Chintaman Supe and Audambar Ronge.
