Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch Nabs Thieves Pretending to be Police, Recover Stolen Goods
Pimpri, 30th June 2023: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested four individuals for stealing parts from an industrial company by pretending to be police personnel. The Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch, Unit 1, spearheaded the operation leading to their arrest.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mangesh Yuvraj Kadam (21), Aniket alias Anil Kailas Kadam (23), Abhijit Dhanaji Khade (21), all residents of Bhosari and Sameer Muhammad Rafiq Inamdar (22) of Katraj.
According to the police, while conducting routine patrols, Unit 1 of the Crime Branch received information about the presence of thieves with stolen goods in the Jadhavwadi area of Pimpri Chinchwad. Acting swiftly, the police set up a trap at Ram Mandir grounds and apprehended the four individuals. Upon searching them, the police discovered a rickshaw containing 144 Mahindra gear parts, two motorcycles, mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, a driving license, and an ATM card with a total worth of Rs. 5,33,000. All the seized items have been confiscated by the police.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused were involved in the theft of 144 Mahindra gear parts, for which a case under section 380 was registered at Chikhli police station. Moreover, evidence found on the accused’s mobile phones and identification documents indicated their involvement in impersonating police officers in the Kudalwadi area. Subsequently, a case under sections 392, 170, 171, and 34 was registered at Chikhli police station.
Furthermore, one of the accused, Sameer Muhammad Rafique Inamdar, has a pending case registered against him for section 302 at Rajgurunagar police station, for which he is currently out on bail. Similarly, Mangesh Yuvraj Kadam has a case registered against him at Bhosari police station under sections 380, 457, and 34, and he is also out on bail for the said crime.
The Pimpri Chinchwad Crime Branch is further investigating into the matter.
