Pimpri Chinchwad, 17th June 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) took encroachment action under their jurisdiction on Friday (14th June). While taking action in Dapodi against vegetable sellers, two Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) personnel allegedly beat a woman vegetable seller. A video of this incident is going viral on social media. In the video, the woman can be seen resisting the personnel, who then physically restrain her.

PCMC has a separate team for carrying out encroachment activities, and MSF personnel are utilized to assist in these actions. However, these personnel are not authorized to attack or beat citizens to control them forcefully. Despite this, there are reports that such incidents occur frequently.

In Dapodi, during regular encroachment action, a fight ensued between the vegetable cart owner and two female MSF personnel. In the viral video, two female MSF personnel can be seen beating the women vegetable seller. They appear to lock her hands and squeeze them, causing injury to the woman.

Due to the ineffective hawkers policy of the PCMC, many street vendors sell vegetables and other items on the roadside, leading to massive encroachment and obstructing traffic. To address this, PCMC has appointed a team to remove such encroachments, deploying MSF personnel for assistance. However, the encroaching citizens cannot be beaten during these actions. As this video has gone viral, the PCMC administration is facing criticism for these incidents.
