Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Bans Immersions in Rivers

Pimpri, September 1, 2020: Considering the rising number of cases in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has banned the immersion of the Ganesh idols in the river-bed as well as at the public places. Instead of that, it has appealed the residents to immerse the idols at homes or give it to the collection centres.
The Ganesh idols of Bhosari were immersed on the eighth day. Majority of the Ganesh mandals immersed the idols in their respective pandals while a few donated the idols. Meanwhile, the authorities have appealed people to either immersed the idols in their homes or give it to the collection centres.
Arrangements for the immersion
The municipal corporation has made arrangements for the idols collections at the collection centres. Besides that, the Ganesh mandals and corporators too have done various arrangements for the immersion of the idols.
Every year the idols are immersed at Thergaon ghat in Chinchwad and Pimpri river road. Similarly, few of the idols are immersed in Pimpri too. Owing to the pandemic this year the festival was celebrated in a very simple manner and immersion arrangements were made ward-wise to avoid crowd.
The Ganesh mandals will be using the Sodium Bicarbonate to dissolve the idols. The mandals have made arrangements to immerse the house-hold idols too.
Idol collection centres
Idol collection centers have been erected at every chowk in the industrial town. Taking help from NGO’s the camps for idol donations too have been started.
