Free Food On Wheels Spreads Smile Across Pune

Kondhwa, September 1, 2020: In the wake of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic, non-government organisation (NGO) Initiative for Peace and harmony (IPH) based in Kausar Baugh started a mobile campaign of distributing free food to people who accompany patients to the hospitals, are troubled, and do not have the time to step out and buy a snack.
The free food packets were distributed on a four-wheeler outside Anandpur hospital, Salunke Vihar and COVID Testing Center next to Mahatma Phule Sanskrutik Bhavan, Fatimanagar on Saturday and outside Sassoon General Hospital on Sunday between 10:30 am to 1 pm.
“People were amazed at how the entire campaign was conducted through a vehicle (Mobile Food Bank) and the announcements made using a megaphone. All food packets were distributed with a smile on the face and empathy in the hearts. We saw people placing the food packets to their foreheads and even kissing them in gratitude. Some asked us if we will come every weekend, and some openly appreciated the work. Dr Anand Keswani (Anandpur Hospital) lauded the work and even suggested that we must do this noble work on all days (throughout the week)”, said IPH trustee Salim Kazi.
“Instead of people coming to us and limiting our food bank to a single area, we decided to reach out to the hungry people across different areas of Pune. For this, a survey was/is conducted using forms regularly so that all details related to different areas can be collected and this all wouldn’t have been possible without our president Inayat Kazi “, he added.
Speaking to Punekarnews.in, Inayat Kazi, president of IPH, said, “We are distributing poha, veg biryani and breakfast snack. We have almost distributed 500 food packets and we plan to feed even more hungry people in and around Pune”.
